As an example of a remnant prairie grove, this reserve exhibits a diverse Spring bloom and hosts an associated diversity of migratory birds. The south fork of the Vermilion River flows through both lowland and upland habitat beneath a stately oak/hickory canopy, and adjacent to a 40-acre grassland/wildlife habitat restoration effort.
