Autumn Prairie Tours

Sunday, October 13, 2024, 1-5pm


Location: 900 N Rd. on the SOUTH ENTRANCE to FUGATE WOODS. Follow the service lane to the parking lot in the meadow area next to the Boy Scout Pavilion.  

Experience Autumn in the Woods with Prairie Lands Foundation at Fugate Woods. Sit around a campfire and enjoy a roasted hot dog.
Golf carts are available for those who would like assistance with accessibility to the woods.

Bring friends and enjoy conversations around the campfire with the steward of Prairie Lands Foundation

Creatures of the Night

Location: Fugate Woods Nature Preserve, North Entrance, off of 1000 North Rd  

Creatures of the Night, Presented by Illinois Extension Master Naturalists

Join us for an enchanting evening at Fugate Woods Nature Preserve! Learn about the nocturnal creatures that call this area home, including bats, owls, skunks, raccoons, and opossums. After the educational session, gather around the fire to make s'mores and roast hotdogs. This event is perfect for nature enthusiasts and families alike!


Owl Walk

Location: Fugate Woods Nature Preserve, North Entrance, off of 1000 North Rd  

Join us for a free and enchanting evening presented by the University of Illinois Master Naturalists and the Prairie Lands Foundation. Our guide, science educator Scott Saffer, will kick off the adventure with a reading from the children’s book Owl Moon. After the story, Scott will lead us on a night-time hike through Fugate Woods, where we’ll listen for the calls of elusive owls.
